Flesh or Demons ? Romans 8:13 For it ye live after the flesh , ye shall : but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Note : When you live after the flesh , you are living by the desires of the body according to human nature. Thus living after the flesh is sin because the wages of sin is death according to Romans 6:23. The word "mortify" is the Greek word "thanatoo" which means to put to death. Therefore, a believer in Christ is to put to death the deeds of the body through the spirit. Thus , if one puts to death the deeds of the body and lives through the spirit , he or she is not sinning. 2Corinthians 7:1 Have therefore these promises , dearly beloved , let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit , perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Note : The Word declares that because we have the promises of God , we must cleanse ourselves of all filthiness to perfect holiness in the fear of God. The filthiness of flesh includes all works of the flesh which are sin to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh , one must confess his or her sins of walking in the flesh , repent , and turn away from continuing to walk in them. So where is the filthiness of the spirit in a believer ? It is in the mind (soul) and body , which are called " uncleaned spirits " (demons) in the Word of God .Therefore to cleanse ourselves of the filthiness of the spirit which are evil spirits (demons) in the soul (mind) and body, we must cast the unclean spirits (demons) out of our soul (mind) and body.
